XXXtentacion : 5 Things You (Probably ) Didnt Know About The Late Rapper
Just two days ago, rising superstar
XXXTentacion was fatally shot when leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, a suburb of Miami.
The rapper whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, was just 20 years old.
He had already seen an enormous amount of success, considering his freshman and sophomore albums respectively reached the #2 and #1 spot on Billboard and 4 of his singles had gone Platinum at the time of his passing.
His death shocked the hip-hop community, and countless celebrities including Kanye West and
J. Cole paid tribute to X . In light of what happened, here’s 5 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About XXXTentacion.
1. XXX Had Amazing Musical Talent
XXXTentacion’s two studio albums, 17 (which was approved by Kendrick Lamar) and ?, beautifully demonstrated his natural musical talent in all facets. X knew how to play multiple instruments including the piano and guitar, which he had picked up prior to entering high school. He also had a fantastic ability to sing, and used his voice in his music to express his emotions. XXXTentacion was public about his battle with depression and was an icon for those enduring battles with mental illnesses. Rapper PnB Rock went to Instagram to show a snippet from the creation of X’s song “Changes”, which has just reached Platinum status.
.2. XXX had a legit love for fashion and has some designs.
In the past few months, XXXTentacion had announced he was releasing a new merchandise line under his brand Bad Vibes Forever. The
pieces he designed are currently online , but it is unknown if they’ll be available to the public. They include a hoodie, two t-shirts, a polo, all of which were meticulously hand-crafted. Previously, he had dropped Revenge items but later announced that he was cutting all ties with the brand
3. XXX Was Charitable
Despite his troubled legal past that included accusations of domestic abuse against his pregnant girlfriend and witness tampering charges, XXXTentacion had truly moved on and changed. Late last year, he pledged $100,000 towards a domestic abuse-prevention program and later expressed the desire to host an anti-rape event at Miami’s Art Basel. His last Instagram story read “planning a charity event for this weekend Florida!”, and following his tragic passing, fellow friend Ski Mask The Slump God announced that he would be taking over the event.
4. He Had A Few Beefs
Throughout the last few years, XXXTentacion had publicly feuded with multiple other hip-hop figures. In February of 2016, X released the song “#ImSippinTeaInYoHood” as a diss track towards rapper SpaceGhostPurrp, and later followed it up with the tracks “SpaceGhostPussy” and “Purrposely”. Other beefs included ones with fellow Florida rapper Rob Stone and even Drake, who used a very similar beat in his song “KMT” as X used in his breakout hit “Look At Me!”. One of Rob Stone’s people apparently was the perpetrator that knocked out XXXTentacion on stage last June, but the pair ended up settled their issues following Stone’s diss track.
